Marine Corp Marathon – He Did It!

Posted on November 6th, 2009 by Michelle. Filed in James Adam Hill Family News

When my husband sets out to do something, he does it!  Over a year ago, an old High School friend from Berkmar asked James to run a half Marathon with him.  He did that and then became highly addicted to running.  He then set a goal for a full marathon with his brother, Steven.  This meant months of training.  On October 25th James ran his full marathon in 4 hours and 6 minutes.

The day James ran the marathon went smooth for him, but the kids and I had a bit of a difficult day.  We walked 2.5 miles to get to the finish line.  Once we were there, we missed James crossing the finish line.  Once the time reached 4 hours and 30 minutes, I realized James had to of crossed the finish line by then.  We proceeded to walk another 1/2 mile to meet him.  Once we found James, we had to walk another 1/4 mile to get to the bus.  We finally were able to rest our feet while we road the bus to downtown DC.  We had to walk another 1 1/2 miles to the car.  What a day!

Here are a few images from the day!  This is the 9/11 Memorial Flag that hangs at the Pentagon.

Here are my babies!  Tristen was a real trooper till mile 5.  Asher acted like he was running a marathon.  Every few minutes he would fall to the ground and cry, “I can’t do it anymore.”  The picture on the right was the most fun they had all day.  They got to roll down the hill to get to the track.
